Scout Terra: the beach truck that powers the house
The pickup of the new Scout lineup. Sand on the tires, a solar roof overhead at home, and the house on its battery when the storm comes through.
What Scout has announced for the Terra
- A pickup built in Blythewood, South Carolina, production targeted for 2027.
- Up to about 350 miles all-electric, more than 500 with the Harvester range-extender.
- Towing over 10,000 pounds and payload close to 2,000 pounds.
- Fast charging up to 350 kW and bidirectional charging.
- A starting price under $60,000 before incentives.
Bugging Out Solar is independent and not affiliated with Scout Motors. Vehicle facts are as Scout has announced them and can change before the trucks reach customers.

A beach truck that comes home to the sun
On the Outer Banks a pickup earns its keep on the sand: fishing gear, coolers, chairs and the dog, out past the end of the pavement. A beach day ends with a freshwater rinse underneath, and then the Terra rolls under the carport and starts charging for tomorrow.
- Air down to 18–20 psi before the sand, and air back up before the pavement.
- Rinse the underbody after every beach day. Salt is the enemy of everything under a truck.
- Charge before you head north. There's no charging out on the 4x4 beach.
When the power goes out
The same two-way charging that makes the Terra a home battery makes it a jobsite and tailgate power source, too. Through a transfer switch at the house, it runs the essentials while the grid is down, and the solar roof refills it on sunny days.
